For all you know, Asero is a Tagalog term, which means ‘steel’ in English. Agent Asero (is what he is called for serving the Empire agency) and further, he is also known and addressed as Agent Phoenix (for serving the Advocate agency) at the same time. Mostly, he was being used by these two secret agencies for their own ends: the first agency mentioned (Empire) wants to use Agent Asero for their evil and greed for power and money purposes however, for the Advocate, Agent Phoenix was used to defeat and hinder their main opponent which is the Empire.
Grecko was named Asero for acquiring such superhuman abilities like that of a steel which is invincible, extremely strong, and can endure any stressful pressure mechanisms in his environment.
